Ships Agency was announced as finalists in two categories at prestigious sixth annual Maritime Standard Awards.

In the Middle East’s and Indian Subcontinent’s most iconic maritime awards, Ships Agency are finalists in not one, but two separate categories.  Ships Agency of the Year, and Technology Innovations, for their one of a kind Agency by Air, shore-to-ship drone delivery project.

Assessed by an expert independent judging panel with a wide range of in-depth industry experience,  the panel includes Ali Shehab, Acting CEO of KOTC, the Kuwaiti tanker giant, the Secretary General of BIMCO, Angus Frew, and Abdulla Bin Damithan, Chief Commercial Officer of DP World, UAE Region.

Commenting on the nominations Marius Johansen, VP Commercial of Ships Agency says, “To be recognised by such a respected and knowledgeable panel of our peers is absolutely phenomenal. We work tirelessly for our customers and are their trusted partner in ports from Jebil Ali to Jawaharlal Nehru, and everywhere in between.  But we’re not standing still. We will continue to refine, improve and innovate in order to better serve the changing needs of our customers in the region and these nominations are a welcome vindication of our efforts”.   

Annually attending to over 2000 port calls in UAE alone, Wilhelmsen serves customers in 116 ports across the region and handled a staggering 12,969 port calls in total in 2018.

Chairman of the Judging Panel, Clive Woodbridge, says, “All categories have been fiercely contested and it has not been easy to prepare shortlists for the finalists. We are pleased to say this stage has been completed and anyone in contention deserves recognition for their achievements and performance levels over the past year.”

To be held on Monday 21st October 2019 at the Atlantis, the Palm, Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President, Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman and Chief Executive, Emirates Airline and Group has once again bestowed his royal patronage on The Maritime Standard (TMS) Awards.
