NorSea Group and Wilhelmsen wins maintenance contract in offshore wind

NSG Wind and Wilhelmsen Ship Management have together won a five year frame agreement with TenneT, a leading European electricity transmission system operator.

NSG Wind and Wilhelmsen Ship Management have secured a frame agreement running until 2022. The framework agreement is to provide a complete technical maintenance solution for TenneT’s off- and onshore transformer stations and AC electricity transmission systems.

Dennis Jul Pedersen, CEO of NSG Wind, says: “The offshore wind market is moving from niche to being one of the leading sources of renewable energy. Securing this contract enables our companies to deliver services in accordance with the high demands of health and safety standards that TenneT expects.”

The project is expected to commence in 2018. Wilhelmsen Ship Management will be undertaking the technical maintenance on components of the grid connection system including the secondary and auxiliary systems. Wilhelmsen Ship Management will also be responsible for the procurement aspect required in this services scope.

WSM wins offshore deal

The off- and onshore transformer stations will be maintained in accordance to the reliability-centred maintenance philosophy. Wilhelmsen Ship Management will carry out several digital initiatives in this project. Amongst them are structural inspections through drones and developing the 3D model of the transformer stations to increase diagnostic accuracy.

Under this arrangement, NSG Wind will provide its network and project management experience and Wilhelmsen Ship Management will provide the technical maintenance aspect of it. The collaboration between NSG Wind and Wilhelmsen Ship Management has been ongoing since NSG Wind was established in 2016. NSG Wind is currently expanding its office and manpower in Hamburg to increase proximity to clients and foothold in the German market.
