Navadan Tool Carrier

How to reduce safety risk with our innovative cargo hold cleaning solutions

Efficient cargo hold cleaning is essential for ensuring vessel readiness and operational efficiency. Traditional manual cleaning methods have relied on crew members scaling ladders, manually scrubbing hold walls, and removing hardened residues, which together pose various hazards to health and wellbeing.

Safety pain points of traditional manual cleaning methods

Manual cleaning with ladders and brushes

Crew members are required to climb potentially unstable ladders and scrub hard-to-reach areas manually. This poses the risk of falls and injuries, and even fatality in the worst case.

Physical strain

Manual cleaning over extended periods can cause discomfort and fatigue leading to reduced operational efficiency.

Risk of exposure to unapproved chemicals

The risk of being exposed to unapproved chemicals and cleaning agents introduces potential health risks such as skin irritation and respiratory issues.

Our Navadan Tool Carrier and Navadan Python cargo hold cleaning solutions, using fresh water under high pressure, offer a safer alternative to get this essential job done.

Tailored for efficiency – Tool Carrier and Python at a glance

The Navadan Tool Carrier is a semi-automated system designed for efficient cleaning at heights of up to 20 meters. Using a wire-guided mechanism and turbo nozzles with ceramic inserts for super-powerful cleaning, the system requires minimal manual effort and is suitable for more complex cleaning scenarios, especially holds with structural frames.

Although not as effective as the Tool Carrier, the Navadan Python also enables cleaning at up to 20 metres but requires manual telescoping of the carbon-fibre pole to adjust its length. Equipped with flat nozzles it is ideal for vessels with simpler, box-shaped holds offering a convenient solution for more cost-conscious operators.

Future-focused alternatives

Both the Navadan Tool Carrier and Navadan Python address these safety concerns by introducing high-pressure water cleaning technology. Both plug-and-play solutions can be configured with Unitor™ HPCE Dynamis 350+ or Unitor™ HPCE Dynamis 500+ high-pressure cleaners alongside the Navadan Hotbox water heater.

Navadan Python

Navadan Tool Carrier

No need for manual scrubbing and ladders

The Python system, although manually operated with an extendable carbon-fibre pole, still eliminates the need for climbing ladders.

The Tool Carrier features an electric winch mechanism that allows for controlled horizontal and vertical movement along cargo hold walls, at the press of a button.

Both solutions are readily available onboard for deployment as and when required, in conjunction with fresh water either generated onboard or easily purchased.

Ergonomic design for ease of use

The Python system, while more manually intensive, is still ergonomically designed with lightweight materials to reduce operator fatigue.

The Tool Carrier requires minimal operator effort, applying a maximum force of just 9 kg due to its automated wire-guided system.

Both systems use high-pressure nozzles to replace the need for physically demanding scrubbing.

Less chemical exposure

Both solutions operate without the need for or much less chemical cleaning agents, using high-pressure and hot water (up to 75 degrees Celsius) to effectively remove dirt, grease and cargo residues.

Enhanced safety features

The Tool Carrier includes a built-in braking system that automatically engages when the winch is not in use, ensuring secure operation.

For the Tool Carrier, the pole extensions are made of ruggedized aluminium, stress-tested for heavy use to prevent breakage or accidents.

In the rare event of a failure, the system’s triangle wire configuration ensures that no components are left unsecured and liable to falling.

Operational advantages

Consistent cleaning distance: Both systems maintain a fixed distance between the cleaning nozzles and cargo hold surfaces, ensuring consistent cleaning pressure and effectiveness.

Reduced water usage:Both systems use only 18 to 21 litres per minute, compared to up to 200 litres per minute for traditional methods, minimizing the accumulation of washing water and simplifying onboard water management.

Quick set-up and user-friendliness: The solutions are delivered as complete kits, ready for use with minimal assembly, and are designed for intuitive operation, reducing training time for crew members.
