MEGI Engine – Familiarization, Operation Course (MEGI)
The MAN B & W ME-GI engines are the dual fuel engines using LNG as secondary fuel and are use since 2015 and looking at new requirements of MARPOL Annex VI it is going to be the future of marine propulsion engines.
Besides enabling understanding of the development of ME-GI engines from ME-C engine, the course also incorporates operation, safety and troubleshooting of ME-GI engine.
A proper understanding of the system and its functions is critical to safe and efficient Main Engine operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
The objective is to build the participant’s ability and confidence in being able to operate the system, fully understanding its capabilities and limitations and troubleshoot the system.
The philosophy followed with detailed explanations with one-on-one interaction between instructors and trainees ensures that the participants understand how to operate the system.
The comprehensive slide presentations would be used to explain in detail, construction of components like Gas Block, Window Valve, Gas Injectors, Purge Valve and various other gas components. Also, requirements and functioning of necessary Secondary Fuel supply system (FGSS), Gas Valve Train (GVT), Inert Gas System and other accessories explained.
Common troubles, and their solutions are discussed for building up confidence in tackling unwarranted situations.
