Dangerous Cargo in Container

n today’s scenario, where most of this work is done ashore and often by BPO’s, training of office staff is an essential part of ensuring the safety of cargo, ship, and the reputation of the carrier. 

This course essentially trains back office staff and other shore based personnel in the maritime aspects of carriage of dangerous goods, and also covers the requirements of The US 49 CFR Hazmat regulations.

This course can also be tailor-made to the requirements of the company. 

Course Objectives: On completion of this course, a participant will

• Have an overview of transport of cargo by Containers, in particular, the transport of Dangerous Cargo
• Have a deeper understanding of the IMDG Code and other International requirements with respect to transport of Dangerous Goods
• Be able to effectively apply this knowledge in the work environment and be aware of the consequences of errors in documentation

• IMDG Code - History, contents and layout of books, MFAG, EMS
• Classes of DG - detailed study, Marine pollutants
• Packaging of DG, Special provisions, Limited quantities
• IMDG code DG List - intensive exercises
• Provisions concerning transport operations, stowage
• Investigative Case studies like Hanjin Pennsylvania explosion
• 49 CFR, US Customs and security regulations, Some Local regulations of Singapore, Netherlands, etc.
• Documentation, MSDS, Bill of lading, Use of EDI
